Happy Friday everyone! I’m AJ Rempel, highlighting the soccer player David Silva!

David Silva is a retired soccer player who became famous for playing for Manchester City. David’s mom is Japanese while his father is Spanish. He began his professional journey at 17 for the Spanish team Valencia. Valencia loaned Silva to Eibar where he made his professional debut in the 2004/05 season. Once he moved back to Valencia he became a prominent player immediately. David missed only six matches in the 2006/07 season and scored 14 goals.

After his impressive performances at Valencia, Silva went on to join the English club Manchester City in 2010. The same summer he was signed, David Silva won the World Cup which is the most prestigious tournament in the sport of soccer. In the 2010/11 season, David went on to get three consecutive Manchester City Player of the Month from October through December. In the 2011/12 season, he went on to help Manchester City win their first trophy since 1960 when they won the FA Cup. That same season, they went on to win the Premier League, also the first time since 1960 ending Manchester City’s trophy drought.

The amazing 2011/11 season of David Silva and Manchester City lead to even more success. In the 2013/14 Manchester City once again won the Premier League and won the League Cup. In the 2017/18 season, David Silva and Manchester City won the Premier League, giving him 3 Premier leagues. They then went on to win 2 more Premier Leagues which means they won 3 Premier Leagues back to back to back which is unheard of.

After Silva’s amazing career at Manchester City, he transferred to the Spanish club Real Sociedad where he would retire.

David Silva had such a remarkable career, I’m so glad I got to see him play!
