Happy Friday everyone! I’m AJ Rempel and today I’m highlighting Alexandra Shipp, an actress in Barbie.

Alexandra Shipp was born in Pheonix Arizona on July 16th, 1991. Her father is black and her mother is White. Shipp attended Arizona School for the Arts and St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Pheonix.

Alexandra Shipp has been an actress since she was a child. Alexandra Shipp debuted her acting career in 2009, for a minor role in Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squekual. She also starred in the third season of Nickelodeon’s House Of Anubis. In Straight Outta Compton Alexandra portrayed Ice Cube’s wife Kimberly Woodruff. She also acted in the Netflix adaptation of Tick, Tick… BOOM! In 2016 she starred in X-Men: Apocalypse as Ororo Munroe AKA Storm. She reprised the role of Storm in the 2019 film Dark Phoenix. Now she is starring in the film Barbie that was released today!

Shipp isn’t a one-trick pony, she has also voice-acted in the video game Telling Lies and sang in the Netflix adaptation of Tick, Tick… BOOM!

 Alexandra has been nominated twice, her first nomination was in 2016 for Teen Choice Awards for Breakout Star for her film X-Men: Apocalypse. Her second nomination was for the same movie in the category Favorite Squad at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

Alexandra Shipp is a great actress and has proven it many times, she really deserves her role in the new Barbie movie. Go see her in the theatres today!
