Happy Friday everyone! I’m AJ Rempel and today I’m highlighting Rosario Dawson, she will be starring as Ashoka in the new tv series on Disney Plus.

Rosario was born on May 9, 1979, in New York City. Her mom Is Afro-Cuban and Puerto Rican while her dad is white. Dawson has had a very successful career starting at a young age. When she was a child, she appeared on Sesame Street, and at 15, she acted in the Movie Kids.

Rosario has been in many great movies! For example, she costarred in Spike Lee with Edward Norton, played Roxana in Alexander, and starred with Will Smith in Seven Pounds and Eagle Eye. She also acted in the film adaptation of Rent where she played Daphne Rubin-Vega. This role won her Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress. She has also played Ahsoka, a fan-favorite character, in the Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. She is also reprising her role to have her own tv show about Ahsoka released in August.

Dawson isn’t just an actor, but an activist and an advocator. She advocates for Voto Latino which is a nonprofit organization that aims to encourage young Hispanic and Latino voters to register to vote. She also advocates for solutions to youth homelessness.

Thank you for reading my Famous Friday! I hope you learned about Rosario Dawson and how she is not only a great actor but advocates for what she believes in. I can’t wait to watch Rosario Dawson act in Ahsoka!
