My name is Allan Rempel and today I am highlighting Sergiño Dest who is on the U.S. National team for the World Cup!

Sergiño Dest is a defender for the US national team. His mom is Dutch and his dad is Surinames American.

Sergiño Dest started his professional career at ajax, he made his debut for the first team against PSV Eindhoven where the won 2-0 to win the Johan Cruyff Shield. Dest debuted in the Eredivisie in the 54th minute against FC Emmen. Dest debuted in his first Champions League match against PAOK. He made his first Champions league start on September 17, 2019, against Lille OSC where they won 3-0. Dest ended the season with 35 appearances and 2 goals, which is pretty good for a young defender.

On October 1, 2020, Dest transferred to Barcelona for 21 million euros. Dest signed a five-year contract with Barcelona with a 400-million-euro buyout clause. Dest made his debut for Barcelona on October 4th in the 75th minute against sevilla, where they tied 1-1. With that appearance Dest became the first American to play for Barcelona in La Liga. Dest also became the first American to play in El Clásico. Dest scored his first goal for Barcelona in a 4-0 win against Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League group stage.

On September 1, 2022, Dest signed for AC Milan on a one-year loan with the option to buy for 20 million euros. Dest has played for the United States youth team since 2017 in the 2017 FIFA under-17 World cup. Dest made his first team debut for the United States on September 6, 2019 in the 68th minute in a 3-0 friendly loss against Mexico. Since then, he has made 19 appearances and has scored 2 goals for USA.
