Happy Friday Everyone! This week’s famous Friday is focused on actor, producer, and musician Keanu Reeves. Keanu Charles Reeves was born September 2, 1964 in Beirut, Lebanon. His mother, Patricia is English while his father is originally from Hawaii.
Reeves proceeded to spend most of his childhood in Canada, where he started acting in theatre productions. Reeves made his first film debut in Peter Markle’s Youngblood. Reeves’ stardom grew and he soon scored roles in films such as Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and more. Keanu Reeves most notable role was in the Matrix trilogy, where he was cast as Neo. The science fiction films have become wildly popular and are remarked as some of the best in their genre. Recently, Reeves biggest role has been in the John Wick franchise, where Reeves plays a retired hitman seeking revenge after suffering through the losses of his loved ones. The first John Wick installment was a massive success, grossing over $86 million dollars. The next two entries into the trilogy, John Wick: Chapter 2 and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum were also huge successes. Together, the John Wick trilogy has grossed over $550 million dollars worldwide.
In addition to being a well-known actor, Reeves is also quite the philanthropist. After seeing his sister battle with cancer, Keanu Reeves founded a private cancer foundation that aids children’s hospitals and cancer research. Reeves has also been a part of the Stand Up to Cancer telethon as well as being involved with PETA.
